A whimsical artwork by Yoshitomo Nara depicts two childlike figures, their heads emerging from separate holes in a light beige ground. The figure on the left has shoulder-length brown hair and is wearing a light blue shirt. The figure on the right has short, dark green hair and sports a red shirt. Both figures possess large, expressive eyes – one pair yellow-gold, the other green – and simplified features, characteristic of Nara's style. Their expressions are subtly different, suggesting a quiet interaction or contemplation. The background is a textured off-white with small, stylized green leaf motifs scattered sparsely. The overall artistic style is childlike but with an underlying sophistication, representative of Yoshitomo Nara's distinctive blend of naivete and melancholy. The artist's copyright is visible in the lower right corner.

Banana Yoshimoto's novel "Hinagiku No Jinsei" (The Life of Hina Kiku) is being adapted into an animated film, set for release in 2026. Directed by Masaaki Yuasa and co-produced by ame pippin and Miyu Productions, the story follows Hinakiku, who lost her mother and lives with her aunt and uncle, as she receives a letter from her friend Dahlia in Brazil. Based on a collaboration between Yoshimoto and Yoshitomo Nara, with Nara's art inspiring Yoshimoto's writing, the film is scripted by Sakiko Tanaka. The film will be presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
