Synopsis
Teruaki, a young man from Tokyo, found not only a new home in Okinawa but also an unexpected love. Hina, his classmate, captivated him with her cheerful personality and unique Uchinaguchi dialect. However, their difficulty communicating became a challenge for their romance to blossom. To overcome this barrier, a girl, seemingly interested in Teruaki, offers to translate his feelings. Thus, a love triangle begins to form.
Staff
Director: Shin Itagaki
Note: There are two directors, but I’ve chosen to highlight the one with more experience.
Shin Itagaki has had a long career since 1995, taking on various roles in the anime industry. While he’s not widely known for directing major hits, his work on Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? shows he can handle a complex project.
Series Composition: Shin Itagaki
In addition to directing, Shin Itagaki is also managing the series composition alongside a less experienced co-director.
Looking at the core staff, it seems like Itagaki is being utilized as a “one-man army.”
Studio
The studio has proven itself capable with action-heavy anime like Cop Craft and Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?, so handling this romantic comedy shouldn’t be a challenge.
Examples:
Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?
Cop Craft
Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shou
Voice Actors
The main voice cast features a well-balanced lineup, with three experienced actors voicing the main characters and relatively lesser-known but notable talent for the supporting cast.
Takeo Ootsuka as Teruaki Nakamura
Known for standout roles like Aqua (Oshi no Ko) and Jinshi (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto).
Akari Kitou as Hina Kyan
An excellent choice for the cheerful and cute protagonist, as shown in the previews. Her notable roles include Nezuko (Kimetsu no Yaiba), Nene (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun), Noa (Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita), and Aru Honshou (Hitoribocchi).
Ai Fairouz[Fairūzu] as Kana Higa
Though her role is for a quieter character, her performances stand out. Her major works include Power (Chainsaw Man), Jolyne Kuujou (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), and Hibiki Sakura (How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?).
Final Consideration
I really like what I’ve seen so far. The setting is visually stunning, with beautiful backgrounds and sound effects that create a relaxing atmosphere. The character designs are pleasant, evoking a beach or ocean vibe, especially for the two leading characters, who visually stand out the most.
In terms of voice acting, Hina is undoubtedly the highlight, showcasing charisma in every scene she’s in. If the studio maintains consistency and the director delivers both comedic and romantic moments, this could shape up to be an enjoyable and memorable anime.
Even if you’re not usually into this style, I think it’s worth giving a try!
