Shogakukan announced Tokuya Higashigawa's The Dinner Table Detective novels will get a TV anime in 2025. Character designs are by Oreko Tachibana (Firefly Wedding).
Set in Tokyo's Kunitachi, rookie detective Reiko Hōshō, daughter of the Hōshō Group owner, and her boss, Inspector Kazamatsuri, solve tough cases with help from Reiko's sharp-tongued butler, Kageyama, who always cracks the mystery.
The story inspired a 2011 live-action series, specials (2012–2013), a film (2013), and a stage play. Originally published in 2007, the series includes five novels, with the latest released in 2021, featuring art by Yūsuke Nakamura.
